The Technical Reality

Paint Correction by the Numbers

Clear coat thickness, correction depth, and defect-removal ranges - how we keep correction paint-safe.

40–60 µm

Typical modern clear coat thickness

2–5 µm

Clear coat removed in a standard two-stage correction

3

Correction tiers - Enhancement, Two-Stage, Multi-Stage

95%+

Defect removal on a Multi-Stage correction

Modern clear coats measure 40 to 60 microns thick, and a standard two-stage correction removes only 2 to 5 microns - which is why paint thickness is gauged at every stage before compound touches the panel.

Why Correction Before Coating

Ceramic coatings lock in whatever is underneath them. Applying a coating over swirled or defect-filled paint seals those defects under a layer that magnifies them in reflected light.

We recommend at minimum an enhancement polish before any coating installation. For vehicles where gloss and finish quality actually matter, two-stage or multi-stage is the right call - the coating preserves what correction delivers.

Removes swirl marks and scratches
Eliminates water spots and oxidation
Maximizes paint gloss and clarity
Required prep for quality ceramic coating
Paint thickness gauged at every stage
