Ceramic Coating

What is ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer - typically silicon dioxide (SiO2) - that chemically bonds to your vehicle's clear coat, creating a semi-permanent protective layer. It provides extreme hydrophobic (water-repelling) properties, UV protection, chemical resistance against bird droppings and tree sap, and enhanced gloss. It is significantly more durable than any wax or sealant.

How long does ceramic coating last?

It depends on the package. Our Seasonal Package (3M Ceramic Boost Spray) lasts up to 6 months. Our Standard Package (one layer of Gyeon Q² CanCoat Pro) lasts up to 1 year. Our Presidential Package (two layers of Gyeon Q² Mohs EVO) carries Gyeon's manufacturer warranty for 36 months / 25,000 miles on a single layer or 48 months / 31,000 miles on two layers, and includes the Gyeon Q²M Glass Ceramic Coating on the windshield for 12 months.

Is ceramic coating worth it?

Yes. Over a 5-year period, ceramic coating costs less than repeated wax applications while providing superior hydrophobic performance, UV protection, chemical resistance, and dramatically easier maintenance. About 80% of our customers who compare wax vs. coating choose coating once they understand the value.

Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating?

In most cases, yes. Ceramic coating locks in whatever condition your paint is in - if there are swirl marks, scratches, or oxidation visible before coating, those defects get magnified under the coating's gloss. The coating itself can technically be removed later (via abrasive correction cutting through the coating layer), but doing so strips out the work you just paid for and means redoing the full application. It's far easier and less expensive to prep correctly the first time. We recommend at minimum a single-stage enhancement polish before any coating, and multi-stage correction on higher-tier vehicles or paint in worse condition.

How do I maintain a ceramic coated vehicle?

Wash every 2-4 weeks with pH-neutral car soap using the two-bucket method. Never use automatic car washes with brushes. Remove bird droppings and tree sap promptly. Do not apply wax over the coating. We recommend an annual professional maintenance wash to restore peak hydrophobic performance.

How long does ceramic coating last on a daily driver in Ohio?

On a daily driver in Ohio, expect real-world ceramic coating durability of 6 months for a 3M Ceramic Boost Spray application, 12 months for a single layer of Gyeon Q² CanCoat Pro, and 36 to 48 months for the Presidential Package (two layers of Gyeon Q² Mohs EVO) - the longer figure when both layers are applied. Ohio road salt, freeze-thaw cycles, and summer UV all accelerate coating wear, so Ohio daily drivers typically see the lower end of manufacturer durability ranges. An annual professional maintenance wash restores hydrophobic performance and extends effective life.

Paint Protection Film (PPF)

What is paint protection film?

Paint protection film (PPF), also called clear bra, is a transparent thermoplastic urethane film applied to your vehicle's painted surfaces. It physically absorbs impacts from stone chips, road debris, bug acids, and minor abrasions. Modern PPF features self-healing technology - minor scratches disappear with heat exposure.

What's the difference between PPF and ceramic coating?

PPF is a physical film that absorbs impacts and prevents stone chips and scratches. Ceramic coating is a chemical layer that provides hydrophobic properties, UV protection, and chemical resistance but won't prevent physical damage. They solve different problems and work best together - PPF on high-impact areas, ceramic coating everywhere.

How long does PPF last?

Quality PPF typically lasts 7-10+ years with proper care. Premium films include manufacturer warranties. The film is designed to be removable without paint damage when it eventually needs replacement.

Can PPF be removed without damaging paint?

Yes. Professional removal of PPF does not damage the underlying paint. The adhesive is designed to release cleanly, revealing the protected paint in its original condition underneath.

Window Tinting

What window tint is legal in Ohio?

Ohio law (ORC § 4513.241) requires front side windows to allow at least 50% visible light transmission (VLT). Rear side windows and the rear windshield have no minimum VLT requirement for non-commercial passenger vehicles. The windshield allows only a non-reflective tint strip on the top 5 inches.

What type of tint film do you use?

We exclusively use 3M window films as a 3M Authorized Dealer. Options include 3M Color Stable (won't fade purple, great value), 3M Ceramic IR (superior heat rejection, non-metallic, signal-safe), and 3M Crystalline (maximum heat rejection while remaining nearly clear). All cut on our Graphtec plotter for exact fit.

Does ceramic window tint interfere with electronics?

No. 3M Ceramic IR and Crystalline films are non-metallic and will not interfere with GPS, cell phone signals, satellite radio, radar detectors, or toll transponders. Only metallic tint films cause signal interference.

What are your hours?

Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. We're closed on weekends but available by appointment for select services.

Where are you located?

3920 12th St NW, Canton, OH 44708 - near Meyers Lake, easy access from I-77. Our facility is sealed and climate-controlled for premium film and coating work.

How long will my vehicle be at your shop?

Timelines vary by service. Express details run 1 to 2.5 hours. Full interior and exterior details run 5 to 8 hours. Paint correction runs 4 hours to 3 days for most levels of correction - concours-level finish work can take two weeks or longer when the goal is perfection across every panel. Ceramic coating runs 1 to 2 days including cure time. PPF installation runs 4 hours to 3 days depending on coverage. Window tinting runs 2 to 4 hours. Full vehicle wraps run 3 to 5 days.

Do you offer mobile detailing?

Yes. We offer mobile detailing services throughout Canton, North Canton, Massillon, and Stark County with our fully equipped Ford Transit unit. Mobile service pricing includes a travel fee with multi-vehicle discounts available. Services requiring controlled environments (ceramic coating, PPF, paint correction) are performed at our shop.

Our Facility

Is your shop climate-controlled?

Yes. Our Canton facility is fully air-conditioned year-round, giving us complete control of the shop's temperature and humidity regardless of what Ohio weather is doing outside. We also run industrial air scrubbers continuously and use stainless-steel shelving throughout the bay to maintain the cleanest, most dust-free conditions possible. That environment matters most for film work (window tint and PPF) and ceramic coating, where ambient temperature, humidity, and airborne particulate directly affect install quality and how a coating cures. It's one of the core reasons our finish work holds up.

Does Ohio weather affect when you can install film (PPF or window tint) or apply ceramic coating?

No. Because our shop is fully climate-controlled year-round, we can install PPF, window tint, and ceramic coating in any season. Ohio winters, summer humidity, and spring rain don't change what happens inside the bay. That means we schedule film and coating work the same way in January as we do in July - no seasonal waitlist, no weather-driven delays, no waiting for the right day.

Why does climate control matter for ceramic coating, tint, and PPF?

Each of these services is sensitive to its install environment. Ceramic coatings rely on stable temperature and humidity for the cure chemistry to cross-link properly - swings in either can weaken the bond or leave high spots. Film adhesives behave differently at different temperatures, affecting how tint and PPF lay down, conform to curves, and seat long-term. And in film work especially, any airborne particulate that lands between the film and the surface shows up as a contamination bubble - often meaning a reinstall. A controlled, scrubbed, dust-managed bay removes those variables.

About Burton Auto Detailing

How long have you been in business?

Burton Auto Detailing was founded in 2018. We've been a preferred detailing vendor of Sarchione Auto Gallery since 2021, servicing hundreds of luxury and exotic vehicles annually.

Are you certified or authorized by any brands?

Yes. We use 3M Films exclusively as a 3M Authorized Dealer for paint protection film, vinyl, and window tint - 3M's manufacturer warranty applies on tiers where 3M offers one (lifetime on Crystalline window film; multi-year on Color Stable, Ceramic IR, and 3M PPF per 3M's published dealer terms). For ceramic coatings, we are Gyeon Certified - Gyeon's manufacturer warranty applies on the Presidential Package (two layers Q² Mohs EVO; up to 48 months / 31,000 miles per Gyeon's terms). Burton Auto Detailing is the certified / authorized installer; the manufacturer's warranty is the manufacturer's, not Burton's. See /terms#section-9 for warranty disclosure.

Do you work on luxury and exotic vehicles?

Absolutely. We work on Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, and other luxury and exotic brands daily - including inventory prep for Sarchione Auto Gallery, concours work, pre-sale reconditioning, and retail customer vehicles. That same precision applies to every vehicle we touch.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Canton, North Canton, Massillon, Alliance, Louisville, Jackson Township, Green, Hartville, and the broader Stark County area. We also serve clients from Akron, Summit County, and across Northeast Ohio.

Outside our service area? No worries - we can arrange enclosed or open transport to pick up your vehicle and deliver it to our Canton facility from anywhere in the continental United States or Canada. Tell us where the vehicle is and what service you need; we'll coordinate transport logistics and put together a combined, all-in quote.

Do you offer services for dealerships?

Yes. We partner with automotive dealerships through our Dealer Profit Program - a structured wholesale arrangement for ceramic coating, PPF, window tint, full reconditioning, and detailing. The model: we install at wholesale dealer pricing and the dealership sets the retail price to the customer, turning our protection services into a revenue stream rather than a cost center. Ballpark per-vehicle profit varies by service tier and vehicle class; exact figures are shared on dealer-account setup. All installs use genuine 3M and Gyeon products; each product carries the manufacturer's own warranty on the manufacturer's terms (Burton is not the warrantor). Partnerships include Net 15 invoicing with bi-weekly or per-job billing, priority scheduling over our retail queue, documented intake photos for mutual protection, and a dedicated dealer-partner relationship.
